【摘要】:Becauseofsafetyconsiderations,regulatoryagencies(forexample,U.S.DepartmentofTransportation)requireperiodicexaminationsofvesselsusedintransportationofindustrialgases(seeSection49,CodeofFederalRegulations).TheAEexaminationhasbecomeacceptedasanalternativetothecommonhydrostaticprooftest.Inthecommonhydrostatictest,volumetricexpansionofvesselsismeasured.AnAEexaminationshouldnotbeusedforaperiodofoneyearafteracommonhydrostatictest.SeeNote2.Note28212;TheKaisereffectrelatestodecreasedemissionthatisexpectedduringasecondpressurization.Commonhydrostatictestsusearelativelyhighpressure(167%ofnormalservicepressure).(SeeSection49,CodeofFederalRegulations.)IfanAEexaminationisperformedtoosoonaftersuchapressurization,theAEresultswillbeinsensitivetoalowerexaminationpressure(thatis,thelowerpressurethatisassociatedwithanAEexamination).Pressurization:Generalpracticeinthegasindustryistouselowpressurizationrates.Thispracticepromotessafetyandreducesequipmentinvestment.TheAEexaminationsshouldbeperformedwithpressurizationratesthatallowvesseldeformationtobeinequilibriumwiththeappliedload.Typicalcurrentpracticeistouseratesthatapproximate500psi/h(3.45MPa/h).Gascompressorsheatthepressurizingmedium.Afterpressurization,vesselpressuremaydecayasgastemperatureequilibrateswithambientconditions.Emissionfromflawsiscausedbyflawgrowthandsecondarysources(forexample,cracksurfacecontactandcontainedmillscale).Secondarysourcescanproduceemissionthroughoutvesselpressurization.Whenpressurewithinavesselislow,andgasisthepressurizingmedium,flowvelocitiesarerelativelyhigh.Flowinggas(turbulence)andimpactbyentrainedparticlescanproducemeasurableemission.Consideringthis,acquisitionofAEdatamaycommenceatsomepressuregreaterthanstartingpressure(forexample,1/3ofmaximumexaminationpressure).MaximumTestPressure8212;Seriousflawsusuallyproducemoreacousticemission(thatis,moreevents,eventswithhigherpeakamplitude)fromsecondarysourcesthanfromflawgrowth.Whenvesselsarepressurized,flawsproduceemissionatpressureslessthannormalfillpressure.Amaximumexaminationpressurethatis10%greaterthannormalfillpressureallowsmeasurementofemissionfromsecondarysourcesinflawsandfromflawgrowth.PressurizationSchedule8212;Pressurizationshouldproceedatratesthatdonotproducenoisefromthepressurizingmediumandthatallowvesseldeformationtobeinequilibriumwithappliedload.Pressureholdsarenotnecessary;however,theymaybeusefulforreasonsotherthanmeasurementofAE.ExcessbackgroundnoisemaydistortAEdataorrenderthemuseless.Usersmustbeawareofthefollowingcommonsourcesofbackgroundnoise:highgas-fillrate(measurableflownoise);mechanicalcontactwiththevesselbyobjects;electromagneticinterference(EMI)andradiofrequencyinterference(RFI)fromnearbybroadcastingfacilitiesandfromothersources;leaksatpipeorhoseconnections;andairbornesandparticles,insects,orraindrops.Thispracticeshouldnotbeusedifbackgroundnoisecannotbeeliminatedorcontrolled.1.1Thispracticeprovidesguidelinesforacousticemission(AE)examinationsofseamlesspressurevessels(tubes)ofthetypeusedfordistributionorstorageofindustrialgases.1.2Thispracticerequirespressurizationtoalevelgreaterthanno......
